DesolationI'm writing to you from a far off place. My feet are bound to gray Earth, swallowing me. Softly humming crickets, the only sound for miles. The air is a gray fog, blinding, choking. The taste is like freezing death. My heart, it thunders. A beating drum to match the hum. We can make music here, but it is wrong. The trees frown with broken backs and broken limbs. The flowers struggle to grow, but their hardships go unnoticed. She draws us in, closer, closer. Until I taste the salt and bitter harsh chill of the ground, closing up around me. I breathe and the fog kills. Blanketed I rest, a stone tear plastered to my cheek.Desolation
